Qatari tourism to Belarus is booming with the introduction of an ambitious new travel guide.
The guide, published in Russian, will be available in Belarus in mid-January and is aimed at attracting foreign visitors to the country, the state-run news agency RIA Novosti reported on Monday.
The Belarus Tourism Office said the guide would be able to cater for up to 4,000 foreign tourists annually, according to the agency.
The official website of Belarus Tourism announced in July that the country is now the second largest destination for foreign visitors in the world after China, where there are now more than 14 million tourists, and second only to Russia.
Belarus is home to the largest concentration of Russian-speaking citizens in the former Soviet Union, but the number of Russian speakers in the country has been decreasing in recent years.
In 2017, the Russian language was the main language spoken in Belarus, and the country now has over 60 percent of its population in Russian.
Russian-speakers account for nearly 90 percent of the population.
